This is the first question everyone asks.  It's a great question that has a lot of answers.

The first step in green is understanding what are the options for a builder or developer to pursue.  The main thing to think of when thinking green is the environment, and it is also the first place to start. Each region has its own climate conditions, and environmental signifigance.

In Chicago we have extreme weather, a good amount of sun through the year, plenty of wind, and lots and lots of water.  These conditions in our immediate environment gives us a starting point in conservation and innovation.
